Blood and Ash & Flesh and Fire Series Order

I absolutely adore the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. My first introduction to her was through the Harbinger series, which make me take a full deep dive into all of her work. If you enjoy this stunning series, you’ll absolutely love the rest of the books by this amazing author.

Some of these books are available on Scribd, so if you haven’t tried that out yet, make sure to get a 30-day trial!

What is the Blood and Ash Series About?

This series has a lot of twists and turns so I am going to make sure I don’t give away any spoilers while writing this. So, with that in mind, this summary is going to focus primarily on the beginning of the first book.

Our main character, Poppy, has been chosen since she was young to be the Maiden, meaning that she can never be touched, no one can look at her, no one can speak to her, and she must be fully isolated and guarded at all times from the entire kingdom, even those close to her.

All Poppy has to look forward to is her eventual Ascension, where she will be deemed worthy by the gods. All she really wants to do though is fight, instead, she is forced to sit on the sidelines during the day and sneak away at night to help those she can.

But, there’s a boy, who is a new guard at the castle named Hawke, and he has her questioning everything she’s ever known and unveiling some shocking secrets about her own life.

If you like paranormal romance and adult fantasy, you’ll absolutely love this series. There are a variety of elements of fantasy throughout the books while still giving a modern touch to it so you’re not lost in the trenches like your average High Fantasy novel.

Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire Series Order

So, with these two series playing off of each other. I think the best way to read this is by publication. However, I will also include the series order for each series if you prefer just to keep it strictly to the series.

Publication Order

  1. From Blood and Ash
  2. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire
  3. A Shadow in the Ember
  4. The Crown of Gilded Bones
  5. The War of Two Queens
  6. A Light in the Flame
  7. A Soul of Ash and Blood (releasing July 18, 2023)
  8. A Fire in the Flesh (releasing December 12, 2023)

Blood and Ash Series Order

If you want to read by series instead, you may get a few spoilers here and there for other books in the same universe.

  1. From Blood and Ash
  2. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire
  3. The Crown of Gilded Bones
  4. The War of Two Queens
  5. A Soul of Ash and Blood (releasing July 18, 2023)

Flesh and Fire Series Order

  1. A Shadow in the Ember
  2. A Light in the Flame
  3. A Fire in the Flesh (releasing December 12, 2023)

There will also be a compendium releasing called Visions of Flesh and Blood, which comes out on October 31, 2023. It is told from the point of view of Miss Willa Collins, so I am excited for the steamy escapism this companion novel will hold.

This captivating and action-packed fantasy series is a must-read for anyone looking for an adult fantasy series and you’re slowly trying to dip their toes into high fantasy. I think it’s the perfect middle ground.
