I have been a fan and devoted reader of author Jennifer L. Armentrout for a while now, every since the Barely Book Club decided to read Storm & Fury. Which, if you haven’t seen my whole series on that book, make sure to check that out.

One of the reasons Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors is because of the way she writers her interconnected series, so you will be slowly dragged in for prequels and sequels, which really gives the characters more depth for me. I also really love how her books are the perfect mix of fantasy and romance books and it probably started my obsession with romantasy if I am being honest with myself.

I am going to share the books of hers I have read so far and what I have enjoyed about them the most in this book list.

Flesh and Fire/Blood and Ash Series

Genre: New Adult Romantasy

This series by Jennifer L. Armentrout has become incredibly popular on BookTok, so it would be very surprising if you haven’t heard about it yet. This series has a bit of a strange order, so make sure to check out the Blood and Ash & Flesh and Fire Series Order post for the entire book list and more clarity there.

This series is perfect if you are a reader of fantasy and you’re looking to branch into more of a romantasy setting. This one I think has a great high fantasy feel.

In the Blood and Ash series, our main character Poppy is The Maiden, who is forced into a life of solitary by the Ascended. She is the chosen one, the one who cannot be touched and must continuously remain pure. She isn’t content with this life and would rather use her powers to help those around her while fighting for her country. When she meets Hawke, a handsome palace guard, she begins to question everything she knows to be true.

She’s going to be confronted with many challenges, primal power, sassy dragon shifters… Basically, any fantasy moment you’ve dreamed of, it’s going to be there. I won’t lie to you, when I got caught up on this series I had the biggest book hangover until the next one came out.

In the Flesh and Fire series, we are focusing Seraphena Mierel, another woman who was born in the veil of the primals and chosen as the maiden. She only has one secret mission, to make the Primal of Death fall in love with her so she can assassinate him. While she knows her mission and why she was sent there, she cannot help but feel drawn to the Primal of Death, and what does that make her?

Harbinger Series

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance, Urban Fantasy

So, I read the Harbinger Series by itself before realizing that there’s a whole prequel series called The Dark Elements. So, I would probably read it in order if I were you, just because I think it works out better that way.

Quick summary on The Dark Elements Series, this series is focused around seventeen-year-old Layla Shaw, who with just a kiss, can steal a soul. That becomes a lot less of a problem with the hot demon prince, Roth.

The Harbinger Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout focuses on Trinity, an 18-year-old who has been hidden away in a Warden camp for most of her life as she has needed to hide from demons so they don’t try to devour her for her powers.

Wicked Trilogy

Genre: Urban Fantasy

The Wicked Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout is set in New Orleans, which was a lot of fun for me because I remember reading it right after I was there, which made it a bit more fun for me.

In this series, Ivy wants to live life being your average college student with her tight-knit circle of college friends, even though she has to spend every evening stalking the French Quarter and fighting for the long-forgotten, fanatical Order. But, this new, sizzling romance with Ren has her questioning all of her plans for her own future and what she knows to be true.

If you like unexpected fantasy and honestly just fun writing, I really think you’re going to enjoy Jennifer L. Armentrout’s work. Let me know in the comments which series you started with.

Also, if you like these books, I think you will enjoy Sarah J. Maas and her series, The Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, so make sure to check those out as well.
