Readers and Writers Group

I am a part of a lot of Facebook groups, 20 Facebook Groups to be exact. Most are reading and writing Facebook groups, but I feel like my main problem with them is that they either get so big that my notifications are constantly going off or that all I see is self-promotion and it takes the life out of a group I enjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I do use groups for self-promotion on occasion, but I miss a lot of the groups that felt like I was hanging out with friends.

With that in mind, I made my own group linked to my facebook page called Readers and Writers. I am incredibly excited to meet a lot of you amazing people and hopefully get to know you a lot more through this group. Honestly, my vision for this group is to have it be something that people feel like they’re hanging out in. I really hope that everyone enjoys this group and has fun in it.

To keep it from going crazy, I do have some rules. It’s very important that everyone follows these rules, otherwise, you will get kicked from the group. Also, keep in mind that I reserve the right to update these rules. So, if I make an update to the rules there will be a post in the group and you can check back here for more details about it.

I would like to mention that I will follow these rules also. I am not above any of them myself. I will not be promoting my blog at all in this group, so, if you want to stay up-to-date on my blog, please follow it on my social channels or subscribe to my weekly newsletter here:

Readers & Writers Facebook Group Rules

  1. No hate speech or bullying. Anything that you post that can offend or make this not a safe space for others will not be approved and you will be kicked from the group. So, be kind and don’t be the worst.
  2. No self-promotion unless moderators specifically allow it or someone asks in the comments. For example, if you are talking with other writers about genres you each write in and they specifically ask to see your work, then you can send it. But do not constantly bait people to try and get them to ask for your work. This needs to come up organically.
  3. Respect everyone’s privacy. Please do not try and add everyone in this group or message them individually. Also, if people feel comfortable sharing something within the group, do not screenshot it and share it outside the group. This is a closed group in order to respect everyone’s privacy so please do not break that or you will be kicked.
  4. Be kind. We want this to be a group that everyone has fun in. Part of that experience is not making anyone uncomfortable.

If you feel like anyone is breaking these rules, please report it to the admins. It is incredibly important to us that everyone feels like they can engage and be comfortable in this Facebook group.

Also, for the question about my favorite food, I like tacos.

Want to check out more of my stuff? I’ve got writing tips and prompts. But if you are more of a reader, I’ve got short stories and book reviews too!

  1. This is great! I’m having the same problems with Facebook groups. Some turn into pure promotion walls which then makes the promotion almost pointless because members don’t bother looking at those groups anymore.

    1. Yeah, that’s how I was feeling too honestly so I’m really hoping that this is a fun group for everyone to enjoy!
