Spicy BookTok Books You Can’t Put Down

Note: This post may contain affiliate links.

These spicy booktok books have introduced me to a world of good books. Some of the spiciest books with the most lovable characters are books I found through booktok.

If you are brand new to spicy books, it may be helpful to draw the line for you between spicy books and full fledge erotica. This tends to vary per person but the general consense is spicy romance books are romance books that have sexual content and sex scenes that are woven throughout the book whereas erotica is essentially just about sex. Both are fine and lovely, it really just depends on your preference!

I hope you will enjoy this book recommendation list of all the lovely spicy novels on BookTok!

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I love this book series! This is the perfect level of spicy if you aren’t wanting erotic, it’s more of a story with spicy parts. This fantasy book has a lot of relatable characters that you will enjoy reading about. Make sure to read this post to see all these stories in order.

Summary

A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

This book series is fun and full of all the blue alien smut you could ever want.

Summary

You’d think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you’d be wrong. Because now, the aliens are having ship trouble, and they’ve left their cargo of human women – including me – on an ice planet. And the only native inhabitant I’ve met? He’s big, horned, blue, and really, really has a thing for me…

Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

Zodiac Academy by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

If you’re a fan of bully romances, you will absolutely cry your eyes out at this series. It is a dark romance series, so you may want to check out the trigger warning before you read it. Make sure to check this post for all of the Zodiac Academy books in order.

Additionally, if you like dark reverse harem, these lovely authors also wrote the Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac series which I have only heard good things about.

Summary

I’m a Gemini. Impulsive. Curious. Headstrong. A twin. Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, I’m Fae.

But of course there’s a catch – all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. And sure, technically that’s true as I’m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didn’t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could.

The school they’ve sent me to is both dangerous as sh*t and one helluva party. Vampires bite weaker students in the corridors, the Werewolf pack has orgies in the Wailing Wood at every full moon and don’t even get me started on the dark and twisted ways the Sirens use their powers on people’s emotions, or how my sinfully tempting Cardinal Magic teacher hosts detentions that leave people needing therapy.

Classes are totally interesting if you manage to live through them. And that Gemini star sign I mentioned? It now determines my elemental magic and affects my destiny, so learning astrology is essential if I’m going to beat down my classmates – which is actively encouraged by the way.

My biggest problem is the drool worthy Dragon shifter who has his eyes on my throne. He and his three psycho friends are determined to make my time here hell.

All I’ve got to do is survive. But fate might have other ideas.

Dammit, why couldn’t I have gotten a letter to Hogwarts?

***Content Warnings: This is a dark, bully romance – don’t go expecting a sweet school for magic with friends around every corner. Fae fight for everything they own and Zodiac Academy is a cutthroat school for students aged 18+ where only the strongest prevail. There’s no Dumbledore here to save anyone’s ass and Lionel Acrux will give Voldemort a run for his money in the evil dictator category. So hold onto your stardust (broomsticks not required) and get ready for a bumpy ride***

Zodiac Academy by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Alright, so we’ve got slow burn, we’ve got a little bit of spice, what more could you want? I love a good romantic comedy, and this is one that absolutely lives up to your dreams.

Summary

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman’s carefully calculated theories on love into chaos.

As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships–but her best friend does, and that’s what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting biologist, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor–and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford’s reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive’s career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding…six-pack abs.

Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

This one is definitely more smutty but it’s so good! Katee Robert’s writing is amazing, especially if you’re starting to get into steamy romances. I am personally a big fan of modern retellings, especially when it comes to fan favorites like Hades and Persephone.

Summary

He was supposed to be a myth. But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell…he was, quite simply, mine.

*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Hades and Persephone that’s as sinful as it is sweet.*

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that’s ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city’s dark facade.

With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil’s bargain with a man she once believed a myth…a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he’s spent years craving, it’s all the excuse he needs to help her—for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he’ll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close…

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I will not lie to you, I am obsessed with this book series. It has so many amazing characters and is truly the book on booktok that is turning people who haven’t picked up a book in years into book lovers again. Also, I think it opened up a gateway for people to become smut readers, so let’s thank it for that alone.

Also, with this series try to avoid seeing anything about it if it at all possible. You’re going to get so many spoilers. Just sit down, read it, binge it, come back later. If you want the list on how to read the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, check out this post.

If you like this series, also check out her Throne of Glass series. It’s not spicy but still quite good.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I feel almost legally obligated to mention Colleen Hoover because I think if I don’t the romance readers of TikTok will find me and scream. A variety of her books are all over spicy BookTok, so if you enjoy her writing I am sure you will enjoy going on the rabbit hole of her stories.

Also, it’s going to be a movie soon, so make sure to give it a read before it does!

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
