Update on Camp NaNoWriMo
If you are following me on Instagram, you can probably tell I am doing a lot better this month on Camp NaNoWriMo. If you’re not following me yet, what are you doing? (I’m kidding, I’m kidding!) But, I just wanted to post a little update about where I am right now and how the month has been going.
So, if you read my post about what I’ve learned from Camp NaNoWriMo, you know that I was planning on creating a mind map for my novel. Well, I did it and it was incredibly helpful! I felt like I actually had a better idea of where my story was going and it was wonderful.
Honestly, if you’re stuck with your story, I highly recommend doing some sort of mind map or brain dump to get all your thoughts out there and together. It’s so helpful, so if you haven’t tried it yet, you should and let me know what you think. For me, all the plot holes in my novel that kept me from writing cleared up by taking some time to actually plan it out. I now have a path and a direction that this novel is going in and I feel like it’ll save so much time in editing.
So I am almost to 5,000 words! Honestly, I am way behind on my goal, but I took a few days off of my WIP just to get in a better mental space. With that much needed time, I am feeling drastically better and I am looking forward to working on my novel more than ever! Seeing as after last April, I only wrote a few pages that honestly were kind of useless, I feel like I am a much better outlook on my novel now. I think just creating that plan saved me so much and having designated writing time is helping, too.
